Hi internet browsers. This is the LiveJournal of Fred Savage, former child star.
I've decided to start my own LiveJournal after noticing the success of another
former child actor's blog, Will Wheaton.
I figure this will be a good place to share my thoughts and tell you about my
life.
Plus, Will Wheaton's blog is pretty popular and gets mentioned on
Fark
a lot.
Maybe I can get my blog here mentioned on Fark too.
Plus, I have a lot of time on my hands and need something to do. |

Man it was a hard day at work. Some teenager called in sick, so I had to work
a double shift at the Burger King. It was tough. I was on my feet for over ten
hours taking orders, working the drive thru, and putting together hamburgers. Do
you realize just how messy a fat food bathroom gets in one day? It gets bad. |

One of the
first things fans ask me when they see me is,
"I loved you in the show 'Boy
Meets World.'" I have to then explain to them that my name is Fred Savage, and I wasn't
on that show. They are thinking of my younger brother Ben Savage. If
they then ask where Ben is, I tell them to try the grocery store down the street
after 10pm every day except Sundays. That's when he starts his shift sweeping and
mopping the floors.
It's kind of weird now that I think about it. Here me and Ben are, two
brothers who both pursued acting at a young age and each starred in coming-of-age television
series in our youth. Kind of makes you think. I then ask the fans if they would
like fries with their order, and they usually say yes. |

Out of all of my four or five movie roles, the one I always recall most fondly
was my role as a student in the 1987 educational film 'Dinosaur'. It had a
really great song called 'Mesozoic Mind.'
It turns out there is an entire website devoted to that song. Wow, I wish I had
a fan site. Check it out and post in the forums.

Trying to clean the fry machine at work is always a pain. You have to get
under there at a weird angle and scrape away all the little bits of fried stuff
that stick to the machine. And the
cleaning fluids that I have to use make me really dizzy.

| 'Wonder Years' Now Airing in Croatia | [02 Nov 2004|01:15am] |
|
Remember when Nick at Night used to air the reruns of 'The Wonder Years'? I miss
those days because the residual checks helped me pay rent. After Nick at Night
stopped airing the old episodes, I had to move into a smaller apartment in the bad side
of town, and get a roommate who never cleans the bathroom and is always having
sex in our bedroom, forcing me to sleep on the couch most nights. Luckily, it
turns out that a TV station in Croatia (TV Krzkjkrv channel 5) has started
showing 'The Wonder Years' to a whole new audience in the former Yugoslav
republic. The residual checks are already coming in, and while they aren't much,
they do cover my bus fare. |

We got a new employee at Burger King, another kid from the local high school. The
assistant manager made me supervise him on his first day and show him the ropes,
which is something I really don't like to do. Teenagers always have such an
attitude problem. After being around me for a few hours, he said he recognized
me from somewhere but couldn't think of where and then asked me if I had ever been on
TV. When I told him
who I was and what I was from, he wouldn't stop laughing.
It happens every time. |

I spend at lot of time at the public library, because this is the only place I
can access the internet to update my LiveJournal. This gives me a good
opportunity to read but can also lead to problems. Case in point: I was a few
days overdue borrowing 'The DiVinci Code.' The fine came to about $2.50. I don't
have that kind of money. But what was I going to do? If I didn't pay the fine, I
wouldn't be allowed to use the library's internet. Long story short, I had to
sell some blood to pay it off. I'm a little light headed right now, but at least I can
still work on my LiveJournal.
Then there was that other time a librarian caught me looking at internet porn.
It was even more embarrassing the third time they caught me and I had to receive
a
lecture over violating the appropriate use of their computers. But I said more
than I really want to about that.
On a brighter note, my good friend, Danica McKellar, who played my love Winnie
Cooper on 'The Wonder Years" is some big shot math scientist now. I just heard
about this when I was googling my name, and found a Wonder Years site that had a
biography of her. She probably has won few Nobel Prizes I bet. I should give her a
call to congratulate her if I can ever find out what her phone number is.
Check out her website. Man, I wish I had regular acting work like she does.

Things might be looking up on the acting front. This morning I got a call
from my agent, who I haven't heard from in a few years. It turns out he got
married in 2001. I congratulated him, but didn't ask why I was not invited to
the wedding, because I didn't want to create an awkward relationship like I have
with my former accountant. Anyway, remember when I told you 'The Wonders Years'
has started airing in Croatia on TV Krzkjkrv channel 5? Well the show has become
quite the hit series, at least among people in Croatia who actually own TV sets,
of which they are few. But those people who are fortunate enough to afford
television
are tuning into "The Wonder Years" in droves. What my agent called
to tell me was that since the show is so big in Croatia, I had been given an
offer to shoot some Croatian commercials. Acting work, finally! The only problem
is I would have to travel to Croatia for a few months, so I will have to take
some significant time off from Burger King, and I don't know if the manager will
let me. |

Happy 2005. Yes, I know it's the third. I would have posted this earlier, but
the library was closed over New Years weekend. Plus my roommate was hosting a
New Years Party that I wasn't invited to, so I had to check into the YMCA for
the weekend. The Y is an awesome place to live, and I had a lot of fun staying
there. Except for when I was banned from the pool for doing cannonballs during
eh children's swim class, I don't have any complaints. I should tell you I was let go from my job at Burger King. I didn't want to stop
working there, but I needed to take a couple of months off to travel to Croatia
to shoot those commercials and my boss refused to give me that much time off. So
I took my pants off and sat in the tub of pickles and was fired. Problem solved.
Now I just need to find a way to make enough money to live until I go to
Croatia, which won't be for several months. I should have though this through a
little better Hochy Mochy! |

 I'm
sorry I haven't posted for so long, but I have been busy getting ready to
travel to Croatia to film some commercials. Since I am no longer employed at
Burger King, I have been getting by on unemployment until the commercials film. It turns out I actually make more
collecting unemployment than I did working at Burger King. Weird.
Well, it might be a while until I write again. I don't know if Croatia has the
internet yet, and either way, I will be quite busy with those commercials.
As they say in Croatia, "Hsdkjfs sak asdfklsdkfj." Goodbye for now. |
