Great Britain's Color Coded Alert System

We in the United States have been living with an ineffective color coded alert system since 2002 when newly appointed Homeland Security head Tom Ridge took ten minutes to drew up the system in between his two hours coffee breaks and afternoon long sessions of Mine Sweeper. This alert system is an important representation in life in a post 9/11 world, because like the Department of Homeland Security itself, no one knows what the hell it does or how it will even protect us from a terrorist attack.

But bureaucratic uselessness is not limited to this side of the Atlantic. The United Kingdom has a similar system in place with alert levels specially tailored for British culture. It came to my attention during the recent botched airport bombings in London and Glasgow when it was raised to BLOODY HELL for the first time ever before it was lowered back down to BOLLOCKS three hours later after authorities realized no one had any idea what the fuck it meant.

The British scale is shown below.

Not to be outdone in ridiculousness by the English speaking world, France and Russia also have their own color coded alert systems designed for their unique political situations. They are translated below.
