Degrassi The Next Generation episode forty seven

Well, Terri has been dating her first boyfriend, Rick, for about a week now and it looks like love. Terri even goes so far as to scribble Rick's name on her gut.

Unfortunately, Rick turns out to be a crazy jealous guy who beats up Terri and orders her around. Also he likes theatre way too much.

Paige and Hazel find out about the abuse (in the bathroom of course), and in a rare moment of screen time, Hazel tries to get Terri to leave Rick. But Terri has never had a boyfriend (for obvious reasons) so she's not ready to break up.

"Nobody loves you, and he loves me and you want to take that away," Terri yells to Hazel. "You nigger bitch." Wow. She really said that, too. Not that it excuses her actions, but Terri only said that because she had severely low blood sugar from only eating ten Butterfingers this morning. Rick has her on another diet.

Terri then eats all the snacks at the girls night with Hazel and Paige. Fatass. Anyway, eventually Rick goes to far by throwing the bitch into a wall or something, and Terri breaks it off.

Ok, now that that shit is out of the way, let's move onto the interesting storyline.

Spinner is jealous that JT is hanging around Paige a lot. Ever since JT jumped on Paige's rapist, he's been in with the cool crowd. But Spinner doesn't like those grimy little hands around his woman and plans to do something about it. But this coming war will rock Spinner to his very core.

Spinner makes the first move by sending a note to Prinicipal Raditch and breaking into JT's locker to make it look like JT has a crush on Raditch. Good one Spinner, you get the first point. JT is sure to learn his lesson and stay away from Paige.

Unless...

Spinner and Paige are walking down the hallway, Paige captivated by Spinner's pecks, when out of fucking nowhere, JT runs past them and rips Spinner's pants right off! Oh my Lord! Spinner is left in his boxers, while a crowd gathers around to look at his bulge.

There's no way to describe in mere words how awesome that was. It's really weird, because JT didn't pull Spinner pants down, he tore them off. The only way JT could have done that was if Spinner was wearing stripper pants, or JT is just so awesome her can tear the jeans off a person. Either theory is quite plausible.

Well, Spinner can't take this, he needs to exact vengeance. He plants a sound device in JT's locker so it appears that JT is farting in front of Manny and is a disgusting pig. Spinner sure did knock JT down a notch there.

But don't count JT out yet, he still has a few tricks up his scrawny sleeve. JT comes to the Dot while Spinner is waiting tables, and makes an order that was so complicated and confusing that Spinner just gives up and beats up JT. Since attacking customers tends to be frowned upon at the Dot, Spinner is demoted to dishwasher.

Spinner does some thinking and comes to the conclusion he can't win this fight, so he agrees to a truce with JT before he loses badly. That's unreal. My jaw dropped when I saw Spinner make peace. Spinner does not compromise with his enemies. Everyone who has stood against Spinner before has died at his hand. Look at what he did to Ms. Kwan in "Friday Night," he put her in metal institution. But JT beat Spinner. My God. JT is more powerful than we ever could have possibly imagined.

JT agrees to the truce, but not before he initiates his final prank: making Ms. Kwan think Spinner has a crush on her. Spinner has been bested. What a sad day for humanity. And Kwan thinks Spinner is never going to give you up.

Rating: A
Very enjoyable. I liked JT's shenanigans and loved seeing Terri get punched around. Go Rick.

Intensity Level: 100% INTENSE
Rick beating Terri was really intense. Terri is three times Rick's size and should have been able to fight back just by sitting on him. But Rick stood tall and put Terri in her place. The Spinner-JT feud blew my mind as well. Intense all the way.

Final Thoughts
This is the first episode of what I call "The Fall of Spinner", where Spinner goes from being super cool to kind of lame, culminating in next season when he admits to getting Jimmy shot and loses all his friends. Plus he cries really weird and his haircuts get more gay as the years go on. Losing to JT is just unacceptable, and I have to assume Spinner is too concerned over helping Paige through her irrational fear of her rapist. The Spinner of  yeasteryear, who boycotted the Caf and got boners from health food, would have never fallen to JT and we have to face the fact that Spinner of yesteryear is gone. The cool kid on the block now is Sean.

JT is on fire now. Getting rid of Toby really helped him improve; I knew Toby was holding him back. I think he is cool now, until next year when it's revealed he has a tiny penis and starts dating Liberty. But JT is on top for this one half of a season. Ride on JT, relish your short moment of glory.
