<- Back to Part 1, poophead!

Degrassi The Next Generation episode sixty six

Looks like this episode shouldn't be watched by kids.

Rick comes back to school still covered in paint. I didn't mention this, but at the end of part 1, Rick tried to kiss Emma after being drenched in the paint. Big surprise, but Emma wasn't in love with Rick. Now she's creeped out that just being nice to Rick makes him think you are in love with him. I wonder what moves he tried to pull on Toby then. Whatever they were, I doubt Toby put up any resistance.

Everyone finds Rick drenched in paint absolutely hilarious. Check out the extras doing chicken impersonations behind his back. Oh those extras!

Jimmy feels sympathy with Rick. But Spinner is basking in how awesomely; his prank went off. The guys fight after Spinner clocks Jimmy with a basketball. Not a whole lot to say here, I was just surprised when Spinner smacked Jimmy with a basketball. Cheap shot, girly hair.

Hey, Sidney has a camera set up outside Joey's house. That's weird. Just then, Caitlin comes by and purchases Joey's house. Joey finds out and is angry his girlfriend bought his house. Joey feels emasculated that his girlfriend had to save his home. Joey, you should be used to not feeling like a man. Joey, you're a woman in all but name.

Rick goes to the bathroom. While hiding in a stall, Jay and Spinner come by and notice him hiding. They lead Rick to believe Jimmy was behind Operation: Paint Attack 2004.

Obviously Jay and Spinner have no reason to want to get Rick with paint, so of course it must be Jimmy. Rick goes ahead and pulls the gun on Jimmy.

Run African-Canadian! Use your legs while you still got 'em!

BAM! A blast of lightning erupts from Rick's gun. Oh Jimmy! He was shot in the kidney. That will paralyze you.

The gunshot blast sends a bunch of kids running. Except for Sean, Emma and Toby, who for some reason when they hear a gunshot and see a bunch of kids running away in fear decide to walk in the opposite to direction to check out what all the fuss is about. Rick pulls the gun on Emma and is about to shoot her in the face when Sean jumps him. There is a struggle and another gunshot.

Commercial break.

Degrassi The Next Generation episode sixty six

Degrassi has come back from the commercial break with Canadian Special Forces roaming the halls and police scraping gum off the floor.

Simpson and Raditch argue because Raditch ignored Rick every time he came by to get help about being bullied. Raditch really dropped the ball there. The two men keep arguing until Spike orders Simpson to stop. Simpson has to do what Spike tell him to, so that's that.

Finally the kids are released home. Spinner and Jay meet up surprised that they are alive. Spinner is sad Jimmy got shot and they were responsible for it because Jimmy is his best friend. Jay points out that "Either outcome, I'd say he was your best friend."

Jay, you always know the right thing to say at any moment.

Meanwhile, the press is there to cover the shooting. Caitlin is very offended that the news media is covering this and refuses to participate. Well boo-hoo Caitlin, it's called a god damn news story. The media has every right to be there. Go back to putting the faces of dying Africans on screen so you can be a star, you fucking whore.

There's is a tribute to Jimmy that night. Someone must have put that collage of Jimmy photos together really quick or maybe it belonged to a stalker who had it in her closet as a shrine to him. Ellie, I'm looking in your direction.

The whole of Degrassis very sad as time stands still.

Rating: A
Degrassi stops being goofy for once. Let's give the show a round of applause. The Rick saga has been Degrassi's high point of non-stupid plot lines. Looks like the producers and writers actually spent more than ten minutes coming up with this episode. I would be A+, but I took a point off for another lame Joey B plot. No one cares about Joey. In fact, the episode would have been cooler if Rick escaped the school after shooting Jimmy, ran to Joey's dealership to steal a car and shot Joey in the process. Then as he is driving away, he runs over Caitlin on the sidewalk killing her dead. That would almost be sweeter than Spinner getting a boner.

Intensity Level: 1000% INTENSE
This is going to tilt the show's overall intensity rating. But school shootings, death and the end of Jimmy having useable legs are the pinnacle of Degrassi intensity. We aren't going to see intensity anywhere near this until Emma's sucks Jay's dick and gets gonorrhea. Which will happen in about a month.

Final Thoughts:
Since the beginning of the season, everyone has repeatedly called Rick a psycho. Then Rick went out to prove he was a normal person, and that looked to be the moral Degrassi was headed in. Until now. Turns out Rick really was a psycho.

Also, God damn Spinner. What the hell happened to you? What a gay hair cut. Stay away from the salon from now on Spinner. You are no longer cool until you go to the barber. A barber that only does men's style hair cuts.
